It is with great pleasure that I am writing you to announce that there will once again be a Presidential Sailfish Tournament this year at Cheeca Lodge & Spa. This will be a momentous 20th annual tournament for the anglers, captains and even Cheeca Lodge. It was with a heavy heart that we were forced to cancel last year’s tournament due to the fire in the main lodge on New Year’s Eve. However, we could not be more excited to introduce some brand new features and amenities of Cheeca Lodge at one of our favorite events.
This year anglers are invited to stay with us at a special rate while fishing the tournament for the chance to experience our new Premier Oceanfront and Island View Suites or one of our other rooms and suites. Of course, it wouldn’t be a tournament at Cheeca without an amazing kick-off and awards dinner with great food and entertainment. This year’s event will feature a change of venue that is sure to impress!
The Cheeca Lodge Presidential Sailfish Tournament is also once again part of the Florida Keys Gold Cup Sailfish Tournament and the World Billfish Series. The Gold Cup Championship is a series of three light tackle tournaments held right here in Islamorada. These include the Islamorada Sailfish, the Cheeca Presidential Sailfish, and the Islamorada Fishing Club’s January Sailfish tournaments. Anglers may compete in any or all of the tournaments. Those who wish to participate in the Gold Cup series must participate in all three.
Beginning in late August, you will be able to visit the brand new www.cheeca.com to download the official tournament entry form and tournament rules. Forms may be submitted to presidentialsailfishtournament@cheeca.com or faxed to 305-664-2839.
