World Billfish Series Announces Prime Time Television Agreement with VERSUS and Barrett Productions for 2006 WBS Grand Championships

SEMINOLE, FLORIDA - September 22, 2006 - The World Billfish SeriesT, the world's largest offshore fishing tournament series, announced today that their 2006 WBS Grand ChampionshipsT will be produced in high definition by Barrett Productions and aired in prime time on VERSUS (formerly Outdoor Life Network).

The 2006 WBS Grand Championships are a special year-end three tournament series that crowns the World Champion of BillfishingT.

The first tournament of the championship series, the VERSUS WBS Tournament of ChampionsT will take place November 9th through 12th in Iztapa, Guatemala. Past WBS World Champions will compete against each other. One past champion will win $25,000 in cash and the right to compete in the 2006 World ChampionshipT.

The second tournament of the championship series, the WBS World Tour Qualifying ChampionshipT, pits the top anglers in the world who qualified by winning tournaments or earning top point totals on the 2006 WBS World Tour. Over 50 anglers from across the globe will compete and five anglers will earn the right to move on to the 2006 World Championship.

The final tournament of the championship series, the WBS 2006 World Championship, will include the winner from the VERSUS WBS Tournament of Champions and the top five anglers from the WBS World Tour Qualifying Championship. From this final group of six, the winner will be crowned the 2006 World Champion of Billfishing, receive the WBS Grander Marlin Trophy and the keys to a new 2006 Mercedes Benz automobile.

Barrett Productions will place television production teams on selected boats in the first two events and all six boats in the final WBS World Championship. The three events of the championship series are scheduled to be aired on VERSUS in three hour-long shows at the end of December.

The World Billfish Series is saltwater-fishing's largest sanctioning organization with over 60 billfishing tournaments world-wide comprising the WBS World Tour. Over 25,000 anglers compete annually in WBS-sanctioned events with one angler becoming the WBS World Champion of Billfishing.
